Why does it not make sense? I take an interest in the draft but I'm a person that never enjoys all the hype and build up to big events such as that ...
My other comment was the fact that should they not get the CBA signed then all parties concerned have let the fans down miserably ... there have always been suggestions that football for one should take note of the salary cap but why should they when something as big as missing a season could stop the self dubbed 'greatest show on earth'? |
Cards would have a great chance of taking the NFC West with Kolb, they were really buggered up by their QBs this year.
I reckon he's probably worth a 2nd, but mainly due to the demand for solid QBs. He's better than quite a few starters out there already. |

He came into this season as the Starter and shit himself in the first game. Would be lucky to get a 2nd for him. |

I wouldn't say he shit himself, he was up against the Packers, in his first game as a starter in front of an expectant crowd. He needed more time but that's not going to happen now.

I think Kolb's shown how good he can be - see falcons and chiefs the year before, average against the titans and saints the year before, and poor against the packers and redskins (when he came into the game late on).
I think when he's been good he's been better than a lot of QB's out there, and when he's been bad he's been better than the bad QB's out there. He hasn't lost any games by being terrible, he threw 3 picks against the Saints in their superbowl year, but also 300+ yards. He didn't look too good in a couple of games, but still think he's a better prospect than Clausen who went in the second last year. Especially considering the overall need for QBs in the league, Kolb is very solid, and could do a very good job in a run first team. I think a 2nd round pick would be pretty fair for him. |
I agree on that, but Clausen from what I read has always had an attitude problem.
Think he turned up at Notre Dame in a limo. A 2nd for Kolb would be good business for most teams. But with Vick who will likely be hurt for 2-4 games a season, you need a very good backup QB. |
I didn't think this thread was a spelling test ;)
Maybe I should stop explaining myself or stop talking altogether ... nothing happens in NFL this time of year anyway. |
Pats franchise Logan Mankins.
Tender worth $10.1m So something did happen in the NFL ;) Shame it means nothing without a CBA. And considering the news is getting worse by the day, my confidence is now 75-25 towards a full season. |

Is Vick the future for the Eagles? He's very exciting at times, but seeing as McNabb was turfed out for not being Superbowly enough, does he have enough to win the big prize?
I don't think so. He dazzles, but is it all smoke and mirrors? |

McNabb went as he was in decline, he was never a pure pocket passer and no longer possessed the ability to make plays on the ground or at least extend them reguarly as he did in his pomp. I think Vick is good enough to win us a superbowl, providing he is supported by the running game and the defence (although to be fair our D held the Packers to 21 points, same as Bears and less than Falcons and Steelers). I don't think Vick is up there with the pure passers: Peyton, Rodgers, Rivers, Brady and Brees. But he does offer something different with his running ability, that puts him a fair way above Kolb and McNabb at the moment. He's certainly stoppable if you stop the deep ball and bring pressure, forcing him to make "touch" passes over the LBs, but i'm sure that's something he'll work on in the off-season. |
Latest news is that the NFL are now blaming the payers union for not wanting to get a deal done ... doesn't look good, as Paul said, news getting worse by the day.

An owners meeting has been arranged for the 3rd of March which is the final day of the current CBA, they are expected to call for a lockout.
Anyone ready for 18 months with no football? I'm not. |
Looks like this thread will be hibernating for a while ...

It can be unlocked at any time. I am still positive there will be a resolution. I am also on the Owners side right now. The NFLPA demands from what I heard, are ridiculous. I'd also say that this wont affect the players or owners. But, it will affect staff inside the organisations. For example, the guys I listen to on Patriots Radio. They write the team newspaper. What can they write about from May onwards after they do their draft review? There's no mini-camp, no training camp or anything. They'll lose their jobs. And they all know it's coming. |
