I can't argue against the Falcons having a frightening offense.

If Turner reverts to 08/09 form, they win their division by a distance.

Pistols at dawn, Sir. The Panthers were just lulling the NFC South into a false sense of security last year. The Superbowl beckons with our 'demented cat' offense this year.

And you say about Jackson not having much against the Packers, would you expect any receiver to have a big day against the Packers corners, especially Woodson? I bet they still don't like going up against him. I was at the first Packers game, he got injured in the first half, and had a QB change which included a gameplan change. The second game, the wildcard game he had 47 yards off 2 receptions, he was against Woodson pretty much all night, to get 47 yards receiving off two catches is still pretty good against one of the best corners in the game.

With regards to the teams he got touchdowns against, I disagree that the Cowboys had given up, he had a 90+ yard touchdown, with a injury to his ankle when they were fighting to get back into the game. He had a HUGE TD in the first play of the game against the Redskins, you can hardly say they had given up being it was the first play, the Redskins D might not have been what it was a few years ago but it's still decent and he was up against DeAngelo Hall for the vast majority of the game.

We have options, speed, down field threat, a QB who in my mind is now up there in the top 5 QB's in the league, a newly rejuvenated OLine, a decent running game with options in the backfield, the one thing I feel we do lack is a second decent tight end and a player who can win jump balls. Plax comes in that fills one need, he's not been away from the game long and you don't forget how to drop a ball overnight.

Our D will lose us games as per usual, hopefully this is something that can be addressed in free agency, once it opens.

Another thing is that everyone in the NFL has to respect our Offence, I don't care what you say, you can argue with me until you're blue in the face but you know we have a good offence, all this and most of them are only in their 2nd or 3rd years.....plenty more learning and improvement to come. You may not be shitting yourself now about our quality, but you will do.

pauldrulez 26-05-2011 09:00 PM

"You don't forget how to drop a ball overnight"... but you do learn how to drop the soap... :lux:

Randy Moss has hit old age and has fallen off a cliff in terms of production.

If Burress was 28, I'd agree with you.

But, he'll be desperate to prove a point. Depending on the contract, it's worth a go.

Swanny32 26-05-2011 09:30 PM

We don't have any other options so providing he's not asking for a shed load of cash then we have nothing to lose.

pauldrulez 26-05-2011 09:34 PM

True.

I'm personally hoping for Sidney Rice out of Free Agency as our deep threat.

But, i'm perfectly happy with Welker/Branch as well as Tate, Price and Edelman.

We'll be using 2+ TE's 60% of the time anyway, so if one of Tate or Price work out, we'll be fine. Especially since Hernandez can play anywhere on Offense.

I hope not! I want our 1st round pick in the next draft to be a good one. :p

Woof Woof! :lux:

In terms of Patriots offence think it's overly based on Brady. Welker is awesome, Hernandez and Gronk look good, Branch and Tate are only average IMO. Running wise there isn't too much special there.

I don't think Pats O is as dangerous as Eagles, yet I think it may well be more productive than Eagles off the back of how good Brady is.

Vick does suffer from not making touch passes over in between the lbs and safeties, not helped by not having any big receivers to aim for. Celek also had a really bad season for him last year and hopefully will show the for of 9/10.

I do agree with Paul about D-Jax, unquestionably talented, but not the kind of receiver that can dominate a good quality CB/ secondary like the tall and fast WRs can, e.g. Megatron, Andre Johnson, Moss.

Maclin is a similar type receiver, not quite as quick but often more effective in the big games. I would consider trading D-Jax away for a big bodied receiver (not Plexico), but someone like Vincent Jackson as think that would really take Eagles to the next level offensively.

In terms of falcons offence, think it's good and right up there, Jones should be a good addition to Roddy, but Gonzalez didn't put up the same kind of production last year and will be another year older, while I've never been a big fan of Turner or Ryan being elite players.

Nobody was saying you don't have a GOOD offence; but it isn't the scariest in the NFL like you originally claimed. And in 2-3 years, anything can happen.

Funny you say that about Welker being awesome, i'm all for letting him go at the end of the season and slotting Edelman in.

Branch is great in this system, Tate has only had 1 season and Price red-shirted.

I like our Tightends and as a 4 person group, I doubt you'll find a better one in the NFL.

And we've added 2 Running Backs to a committee that was top 10 in the NFL and IMO, was very average.

His bravery on short routes over the middle combined with his super catching ability surely make him the best slot receiver by a long distance. Edelman looks ok, but surely he's not in the same class as Welker.

Brady has made Branch look good, but not convinced with his long-term production. Tate has great pace but I don't think he'll be a top end WR, could do a job like Branch.

Tight end group is excellent and really well balanced.

Commitees are ok, but still need the quality there somewhere and not sure that you have anyone in the backfield to really change a game.

pauldrulez 27-05-2011 11:18 AM

The thing is, with Brady, you need a back that can do it all.

Vereen was the best back in the draft in terms of value to the Patriots. His blitz pickup skills were high in College and his blocking was rated high at his Pro Day and Combine. He can run inside or out, he's really the new Kevin Faulk.

For me, I'd rather have a committee as it increases the longevity of the player and the committee as a group. Unless you have a top 3 or 4 back, you are better off with 2 or 3 lesser guys (or in the Pats case 4 or 5 with the 2 draftees, Woodhead and Benny) that have their own roles and can play on Special Teams.

Tate is good enough to be a #3 WR for the Pats, but Brady doesn't really trust him as shown on 4th and 15 vs the Jets, 3 times he got open against Cromartie on the play, Brady waited and waited for Welker to get open, and then threw to Branch who was covered by Revis.

A #3 WR used to be a big need, but with the evolution of the offense and Bill returning to old smash-mouth football, the #3 and #4 receivers will likely only see 15-20 snaps in a rotation. And that's why Edelman had poor numbers last year. Then he started instead of Welker vs the Fish and had a big game with Hoyer as his QB.

WOOF WOOF ...................... (Will you be giving it to the Eagles for Kolb though? :hi: ;) )

pauldrulez 27-05-2011 02:48 PM

Why, Kolb's got a lower passer rating than McCoy? :p

Someone gives a 1st rounder for Kolb, they'll regret it.

Woah now, what's that based on? I love the guy and really want him to do well, but we saw him come through as a WR from QB two seasons ago and have a go when Welker got hurt and we saw very little of him (struggling) last season. He had some good returns which is good. I wouldn't be so sure he'll make it, certainly not to Welker's level.

pauldrulez 27-05-2011 06:20 PM

Welker took more big hits last year than ever. His evasive skills were a lot lower, he barely took a big, legal hit in his first 2 years. He also had a lot more drops.

If he wants a big contract, he can go. If he wants a decent contract and a chance to play with a great QB, he can stay.

Disagree, thats the going rate for a QB who's NFL ready and has experience. Despite what people say, he's got some wins under his belt and has put up good numbers in those games. Ok, he has had some mares which are well documented but who hasn't?

pauldrulez 27-05-2011 07:23 PM

Personally, going through his games, he's had 4 better than average games, 3 of which were very good (Atlanta 2010, San Fran 2010, Kansas City 2009).

He's had his fair share of awful games as well. (Saints 09, Pack 2010, Titans 2010, Cowboys 2010)

I think he's a possible starting QB, but is he worth a 1st round pick? In 2011 draft, maybe. In 2012 draft where there are 3 or 4 likely worthy 1st round picks, I wouldn't.

You might get a 2012 2nd and 2013 2nd or a 2012 2nd with performance possibly making it a 1st.

Swanny32 27-05-2011 09:04 PM

To be fair his awful games were against strong sides maybe with the exception of the Titans, he's not excellent, I know, but he's better than the majority of QB's available on FA and better than a lot of current starting QB's out there. Id love to keep him as backup to Vick but at the end of the day he's good enough to start somewhere so he's not going to want to stick around as a backup.
