Just seemed a bizarre way to spend a draft pick when you can pick them up after.

Managed to get the top rated kicker in the draft as well according to most.

So a full clean out. I forgot how ******** our last long snapper was :D

Alright, so here's my if-the-season-started-tomorrow 53-man Dolphins roster. Not my choice, but what I'd imagine the Trifecta would go with. There are positions of strength - RB, O-line, LB - but we're really short at WR and I'm still unsure about that secondary. Starters in caps...

QB: J BECK, J McCown, C Henne
HB: R BROWN, R Williams, J Parmele
FB: B GRIGSBY
WR: E WILFORD, T GINN, D Hagan, D Kircus, D Bess, G Camarillo
TE: A FASANO, S Ryan, J Peelle
T: J LONG, V CAREY, M Byrne
G: J SMILEY, S MURPHY, I Ndukwe
C: S SATELE, D Mormino

NT: J FERGUSON, R Wright, P Soliai
DE: V HOLLIDAY, R STARKS, K Langford, D Robinson
OLB: J TAYLOR, J PORTER, R Torbor, P Merling, Q Moses
ILB: C CROWDER, A AYODELE, C Anderson, K Poppinga
CB: M LEHAN, T DANIELS, W Allen, A Goodman, N Jones
FS: R HILL, J Allen
SS: Y BELL, C Crocker, K Davis

P: B FIELDS
K: J FEELY
LS: J DENNEY

Practice squad
QB S Baker, HB/FB L Hilliard, WR T Perry, TE M Mulligan, T D Gore, G D Thomas, DT L Dotson, CB W Billingsley

Cut
QB/WR J Foster, HB P Cobbs. FB R Mauia, TE D Martin, OL D Heerspink, T T Darilek, T J Wilson. TE A Halterman, NT S Fifita, DE R Ninkovich, DE M Roth, LB J Glymph, LB E Miles, LB K Smith, LB A Wright, CB J Thomas, S C Bryan, K D Carpenter, K D Rayner

3rd rec, TE, DE, FS are all weak IMO.

I'd prefer Roth to Holliday any day I think.

And I think Mauia may be kept too.

Benzhiyi 28-04-2008 10:09 PM

Only reason for thinking they'll cut Roth is he's not prototype size for a DE, which Parcells is obsessed with, and I can't see him as an OLB.

I like Mauia but taking both Parmele and Hilliard - two hybrid HB/FBs - puts him on the bubble.

pauldrulez 28-04-2008 11:14 PM

Here is my guess at the Patriot roster. Not that good with knowing some of the players but I'll give it a try.

QB: T BRADY, Kevin O'Connell, M Gutierrez
HB: L MARONEY, S Morris, K Faulk
FB: H EVANS
WR: R MOSS, W WELKER, J Gaffney, K Washington, C Jackson, M Slater.
TE: B WATSON, M Pollard, S Spach.
T: N KACZUR, M LIGHT, R O'Callaghan.
G: L MANKINS, S NEAL, B Yates. (Hochstein 3rd on depth chart though)
C: D KOPPEN, R Hochstein

NT: V WILFORK, M Wright, K Smith.
DE: R SEYMOUR, T WARREN, LK Smith, J Green.
OLB: M VRABEL, A THOMAS, TJ Slaughter, P Woods, S Crable. (Would robably have Mayo as 1st reserve here)
ILB: T BRUSCHI, V HOBSON, J Mayo, E Alexander
CB: F BRYANT, E HOBBS, J Webster, L Sanders, T Wheatley.
FS: J SANDERS, B Merriweather (also as CB as well.)
SS: R HARRISON, W Andrews, T Williams.

P: C HANSON
K: S GOSTKOWSKI
LS: L PAXTON

Practice squad
QB M Cassel, K Eckel FB, D Thomas TE, W Britt T, S Thomas DE, L Izzo LB, J Wilhite CB, CJ Jones WR,

Cut
J Martin T, M Richardson CB, T Mixon CB, B Ruud OLB, S Aiken WR, A Spann CB, R Ventrone SS, S Player P

Pretty sure that is it. Tell me if there are any obvious mistakes that I have made and not noticed.

Latvian Eagle 28-04-2008 11:20 PM

Not going to go into too much detail on the Panthers right now, but we're still lacking that back up QB witha bit of experience. At the moment after Delhomme (who's not too great apparently after his op) we have Matt Moore (who did look promising as it goes) and Brett Basanez (again who is promising but spent all last year on IR).

pauldrulez 29-04-2008 12:39 AM

tbh with the Patriots WRs, it doesnt hugely fill me with confidence as I am not sure that Gaffney and Washington can fill in the places left by Donté Stallworth and Reche Caldwell.

But, heres hoping. I reckon 43 out of my 53 picks for the squad will be correct at a wild guess.

jlmatthews 29-04-2008 01:09 AM

For you fins fans... I've had the chance to see Parmele quite a few times living in Toledo. He'll never be a feature back in the league, IMHO. He could be a good change of pace type option... and the guy is a bettering ram. He seems to always fall forward.

Also if you guys do cut Ninkovich, he'll go somewhere else. He's had injury problems so far in his career... but is more than capable.

Benzhiyi 29-04-2008 11:15 PM

Not wishing to upset Paul, but here's an interesting view on Gholston:

I still think he's wrong with the Pats' grade.

Ainge is a waste of a pick.
Basically what I said! I hope Gholston is a bust too now the Jets have got him!

saxoneagle 30-04-2008 01:05 PM

And I agree on the Pats draft... Time will tell I suppose. Be interesting to see how they graded last years picks and how they actually did last year.

Benzhiyi 30-04-2008 03:01 PM

It's started... :D

I'd be happy with the Pats beating the Colts in the Conference final then beating the Cowboys in the Superbowl to get Pick #32 :D

saxoneagle 30-04-2008 03:20 PM

I also don't think the Chiefs will be the third worst team.

Falcons, Dolphins, Bengals, Bears, 49ers and Rams will be below them.

I'd love to see where Tebow ends up. Anyone think he could be a true franchise QB unlike the long shot the Falcons took on Ryan?

saxoneagle 30-04-2008 03:23 PM

I also think Russell will get a run for Oakland this season and they'll finish around 7-9. If McFadden has a breakout year like Peterson did at Minnesota, that could well be 9-7 with Oakland's easier schedule. However, with 387 running backs, how much ball will McF see? :D

saxoneagle 30-04-2008 03:25 PM

God, I can't believe I'm predicting for a season that doesn't start for another 4 months!

pauldrulez 30-04-2008 06:27 PM

Of course. It will be harder as we will be playing them home and away with them being in our conference. Bet he destroys us.
