Wow, Okoye picked up by 49ers

Hope they really can develop him into a top player!

Loving the Rams draft picks! Finally got some weapons for Bradford, he really needs to step up & prove hes worthy of a number one pick now. Cant wait to see Tavon Austin in pro football.

Great news. I will watch with a lot of interest.

I can't believe Mel Kiper gave the same draft grade to the Falcons as the 49ers. My belief is that will turn out to be an all-time great draft one day.

Amazing story.

49ers will give him a real chance to develop.

Geno Smith, goes #6 to Cleveland. Outside of that, I think he actually drops to around #25 as teams like an Arizona will trade up into the 1st to get a QB.

2. Where does Tavon Austin end up and who trades up for him?
He'll go #13 to the Jets

3. Who (realistically) would you like your team to select in the first round?
Since Hayden is obviously not going to last to #30, I think I would like Tank Carradine at that spot.

4. Who is your late round prospect (other than Lawrence Okoye) who you would like your team to pick up?
If the Falcons don't get Lattimore in the middle rounds, I would love to get RB Latavius Murray in the 6th or 7th round.

Well Tank would have been there at the 30th spot. I bet Murray takes over for McFadden after he gets hurt.

Been away for a few days and I watched loads of the draft. I am really happy with Chips first draft in Philly. Solid first 3 rounds, Barkley in the 4th is great value as Foles is never going to be a franchise QB. I think Jordan Poyer is a great pick and I was supprised he was still there by the 7th.

I'm not sure how the waiver system works for players released now, but I'm sure that every team will put a claim in on him. Including the Jets, because it was obviously a clerical error that put him on waivers.

Instead, Jones dropped back to select a player he could have gotten on Friday night and most likely could have gotten some time on Saturday. Wisconsin center Travis Frederick isn't a first-round talent. Even Frederick was shocked to be a first-round pick. ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder queried five teams after the first round and none had Frederick as a first-, second- or third-round talent. One had Frederick as a solid sixth-rounder. Another said he was a sixth- or maybe even a seventh-round pick.
Al Davis 2.0. The difference being Al Davis had actually had success as a GM once.

pauldrulez 30-04-2013 08:34 AM

I disagree with that report, he'd have gone in the 2nd round

jazman 30-04-2013 09:26 AM

Jesus christ. Please don't let us sign Tebow. We were laughed at in the draft as it is.

davematt 30-04-2013 11:11 AM

I feel for Tebow.

He is probably one of the best people you could have in a locker room; sadly, his playing style as a QB is not NFL friendly at all.

It would be a real shame if he has to bugger off to Canada and play which has been mentioned by a few people; hopefully a team gives him a chance to challenge their starting QB and at least apply some pressure.

Struggling to find a fit though; if the Jags aren't intersted, well, you're going to struggle to find anywhere else. Maybe Oakland?

It all depends....

Firstly, he's not one of the best people you could have in the locker room, though it's not really all his fault. He's a team guy for sure, but a media circus follows him wherever he goes. If there's anything he can do to remedy that, he needs to do it pronto! (Calling Bill Belichick, come in BB.......)

Secondly, he might have to reduce wage demands. A lot of clubs might have space for a cheap Tebow to come on occasionally to assist a non running QB on certain plays, but not in a genuine battle for the QB spot as it was billed in NY.

Or clubs with QB/RB hybrids who have offensive plays tailored to the skill set of their guy might like a backup able to step in with continuity. For instance, the Panthers have Derek Anderson as backup and he does a good job, but the playbook has to be thrown away and replaced if Cam goes down. For the right price, I'm sure the Panthers would consider waiving Clausen, who can't run or throw, and have Tebow as that third man.

Even if he does drop out at first, someone will have a QB crisis and call on him. Anyone remember Brian St. Pierre?!

Not good enough as a QB in Canada. The QB has to be able to throw.

Might get a game as a TE.

The only pressure he'll put on a starting NFL QB will be media beat-up pressure and no NFL franchise wants that no matter how many jerseys they sell.

pauldrulez 30-04-2013 05:44 PM

He's turned down offers to play TE already this off-season.

Stubborn as he can't play QB

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith's fall out of the first-round of the 2013 NFL draft has claimed its first casualty as Liz Mullen of the SportsBusiness Journal reports that the rookie quarterback is parting ways with his agents, Jeff Nalley of the Houston-based Select Sports Group.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Smith was under the impression that he should be and would be the No. 1 overall pick of the draft. It is understandable for Smith to be disappointed about not being a first-round pick, but unless he was specifically being told by his agents that he would go No. 1, we're not sure how they are at fault for his tumble out of Round 1.
I guess Geno doesn't have a TV.
