Scrums in rugby not ever being contested.
Scrum Half rolls it diagonally into his front row and off they go.
Don't see the point of 16 players in this formation when there will only ever be one winner.
Long for the good old days where the ball went into the middle and both teams would push for their lives.

There's an utter little shite of a 10 year old-ish American brat in the crowd at the US Open Final with a t-shirt that says "hey guys, see you on this court in 10 year's time"
Hope they don't find him under a bus before then.

Probably more chance of seeing him in another type of court in ten years time?

That American XL Bully dogs aren't classed as dangerous dogs because the Kennnel Club doesn't recognise it as a breed

They want one because either they think it's intimidating to others (which it is) or they think it's really cool (it isn't).

They're monsters that haven been bred to be monsters and mutilated (who thinks it's fine to buy a dog's ears off?) to look even more like monsters.

The whole announced warnings before films and TV shows - usually about "outdated representations" or similar. It's bonkers and the only people watching are people who are probably of the "outdated" generation anyway.

Die Hard is a Christmas motion picture as it a Christmas film set at Christmas, same as Trading Places or Gremlins. Never seen Home Alone but I am sure you are correct.

I was moved to write the letter because there was an article on the subject very shortly after I saw Home Alone for the first time (just a couple of years ago).

And yes, that is pleasing to see.

Flight got delayed. Fair enough

Couldn't land in Ibiza straight away cause of bad weather. I get that

Weather is too bad. Have to take us to Palma instead. Ok I see your point (dying for a piss btw)

An hour on the runway at Palma while the figure it out. Annoying but **** it. Problems are problems

Cant fly tonight. Have to stop here and come back tomorrow. **** it. I'm ok with this. New town and all. Just show me where I'm staying

3 hrs later I now know there's a flight scheduled for 2pm tomorrow but me and a plane full of people are stuck in an airport with no idea where to go.

Maybe they will come back to us in a few hours to let us know where we should stay. But the 3 children who apparently work for the company that you can find here are no wiser than we are.

At least Ryanair would have told us from the start: go **** yourselves, you are on your own.

Edit: Palma easyJet staff got out of their beds to give us somewhere to go. Top lads (lasses really). easyJet central, go **** yourselves

Not that I've flown with them that regularly, but my limited experiences with Easy Jet have always been fine.

(This is also true for Ryan Air, but I don't think I've flown with them in over 20 years!)

stange555 14-09-2023 10:26 AM

I've been a reasonably regular Ej customer for a few years, and sure things have gone a bit odd on occasion, but nothing that wouldn't impact another airline (it is usually the weather in my experience). I'm flying with them next week to Rhodes, they do a job. Last flight was with Wizz, I really liked them, and this will sound odd, but the plane smelled nice inside, EJ's often whiff a bit. The worst experiences I have ever had with airlines were with Thai and British Airways, by far worse than anything a budget one has thrown my way.

Every time I fly to Ireland with BA using Heathrow or City there seems to be a delay on the way back of hours and staff announcements which underestimate the delays which show accurately on the app. Son went with Ryan Air two weeks ago and no problems at all. You don’t always get what you pay for.

That's because ryanair don't go to London City or Heathrow. Slots and airspace are the busiest in the world or there abouts

It has been to do with faulty aircraft on three occasions and them not putting a replacement in. Thought that was what a big airline could do.

Yep totally false. And it’s at odds with the mental health message constantly spouted - ‘it’s ok not to be ok.’ Prince William’s the same. Always laughing, loads of shit BANTER.

I want to see them ‘not ok’. Fed up, short-tempered, slagging people off, yawning. Like Roy Keane.

That shouldn't annoy you. After all, you and your Dad made the very best of a bad situation for your own entertainment.

:lux:

PeterH 16-09-2023 01:50 PM

Okay, so let's have a real annoyance.

Family related. Many of you are aware of the situation with my daughter's separation from her long term partner - with three of our young grandkids involved.

It's the start of a week long (school) holiday here in Chile to celebrate independence. In the next few minutes, the EX is arriving with the three grandkids in the car - 2 hours from Santiago to Puchuncavi on the coast where we live. He then continues up the coast we he works as a GP on Saturdays.

All good in the circumstances - yeah?

He has refused to bring our daughter, their mother. Yesterday, I had to buy her bus ticket, so she is travelling separately and arriving in about 6 hours.

He will be in and out in 10 minutes. It will be the best my wife and I can do to keep a civil tongue in our heads. I reckon I might just go and put the rubbish out in that time.

The situation is getting close to psychological, controlling abuse on his part even though they are separated. The sooner the lawyer sorts out the agreed monthly payments the better. At least it has woken our daughter up to the fact that there will be no reconcilation.

He was part of our family for a dozen years.

People, eh?

Of course, there is going to be a certain amont of rancour in any break up.

And the break up was coming, and my daughter contributed in a large part to it happening.

But he has been a real twat since.

Last weekend he promised to take the kids out on Sunday. The little mites had their backpacks ready - books, toys, barbies etc from 11am onwards - loking forward to an outing in the car and three or four hours with their dad.

He turns up at 5pm, walks them to the local McDonalds for a kid's meal each and brings them back an hour later.

When I have mentioned to him that he could show a bit more interest, he cites examples of where he has been a dutiful father doing his bit. He lives across the fucjing road and sees them once a week.

This is when I wish I was a millionaire.

I would make him have to go to court to get access with the financial cost to achieve it. We would be pulling the strings rather than him.

My daughter is butt-headed as well, though. I made the offer of her coming to live with us at the end of the year and re-starting, but she wants to sat in Santiago. That would not be a small sacrifice on our part. The kids are not the most disciplined and well-behaved in the world.

PeterH 16-09-2023 03:53 PM

We have the grandkids, now we have to go and pick the daughter up later.

My wife reminded him to send us some cash in the week so that we can take the kids to the beach and buy them ice cream. He doesn't give her any cash at all.

The considerable amount of money local council spent landscaping and planting a local roundabout in May and maintaining it since. TFL removed it for a new road scheme last week.

The frightening amount that students have to pay for student accommodation, on top of this they have over 3 months to clean the place and get it ready, yet its still dirty and things don't work.

Mexican waves and singing the French national anthem when not watching a game involving France.

New York used to be a perfect example. Some small, abandoned plot would become some politicians pet project and before you knew it, the funds were gathered and the Parks dept took over.
A job that could be banged out in a couple of weeks would turn into an archeological dig. After eighteen months, all the tax payers would have to show for their buck was a couple of benches, that the local wine victims commandeered after a couple of days, a few daffodils, a memoriam to some old dear who went on a march in the 60's, a tiny dog walk and some brick paving where the weeds were already protruding because it took them so long to lay them.

I've always had good experiences with Easy Jet, I guess some people pay Travelodge prices and expect Savoy service.

I and my mother got 5 minutes to go about a mile on the Gatwick travelator after our plane arrived late on the incoming flight. and lost most of its time slot to turn around. My mother was 76 at the time. The staff acted like training sergeants pushing us through an Army exercise. I guess that's what you get for budget airlines. Have been getting to like flying less and less these days
