I rallied against last year when the missus started very early in November.

We got to mid November this time around. She wants help with the final piece, the tree, today.

I have become circumspect about the whole thing. It's something where my view is not going to win.

There was an "on this day 100 years ago" thing in the Times on 18 November about Harrods and whatnot having their Christmas bits and bobs on show.

The word "decs" is annoying.

Had to rep this. I want to make a sitcom out of your posts. Richard Wilson is now 87 but I reckon he could make a good fist of the lead character.

Read something this week is that Farage is annoyed he's not getting voted for the bush tucker challenges, as was his plan, because you get "25% more screen time". Figures have dropped by 3.5 million too.

Well yes, you can ally this to people that declare their love for 'Fairy Tale of New York' thinking it gives them some sort of dangerous, avant-garde "edge" to their seasonal music taste.

Frogsporn 01-12-2023 12:03 AM

I find it sad that, simply because of when he died, the media will focus on ******* Fairy Tale of New York as opposed to any of the genuinely great songs he wrote.

His legacy deserves better.

It is not only the screeching in the wrong register and wrong key as a singular failure to understand the words and context of one of the greatest male arias in opera.

A bit like the way women and Gloria Gaynor have hijacked "I Will Survive", which was written by a man about his feelings. But that's another argument.

I worked with plenty of rogues down the years who were career perfectionists in the art of pulling the wool over the bosses eyes.
I remember the bossman coming on the job one day and the fellow working with me, downing his tools and walking around the job pointing things out that needed to be fixed. Most of which were **** ups he had made himself. Of course they were all blamed on the poor bugger who had just gone on his hols.
On watching him, one old wise guy remarked, "A good line of bullshit is worth more than ten bags of tools."

I know his is a Football one, but I'm fed up of hearing about poor Saudi Arabia FC and their injury crisis - Fecking diddums !! - They were going on about it again, on Radio 5 live, this lunchtime.

OK, so they've got a lot out but they've still spent an absolute fortune through blood money ie 120 mil on Izak and Gordon, who weren't even regularly starters last season.

When the likes of us, have loads out, we just have to deal with it, with a much smaller squad - No sympathy from the big Clubs loving media.

Shit Christmas songs, you know those ones from more recent artists where their agents/managers have clearly said to them, bring out a Christmas song and you’re made for life, doesn’t have to be any good.

Its annoying because all the classics we love get swallowed up by all the recent years drivel now

If all you are saying is that Aggie is a feckless drunken toff, then that is different of course.

Another driving one, on a roundabout going , woman coming along from the left decided that you no longer have to stop at the give way sign and keeps going nearly going into the side of my car, when I show my displeasure she gestures like I am in the wrong. Ironically she is in an accident courtesy car.
