Anyone saying he lost the players is speculating. The chairman has said the opposite. It’s pretty well established how popular he himself was among the players. It is though quite possible that the rest of the coaches lost the players

I think the players may have lost confidence in him but the majority of them appeared to still be trying for him.

Can't remember his name, seemed like a nice fella, but the third coach reminded me of a children's TV presenter. Maybe it was a YouTube video someone posted in here that did it, but it always stuck with me. Every time I saw a round window, I thought of him.

So Pat hadn’t lost the players in the dressing room. I agree. Think some were trying to claim the opposite even though all the sources would suggest otherwise.

Don’t think Vieira lost the players. I just don’t think the players really had a clue what they were supposed to be doing under him.

That for me is the worst element of Vieira as a manager. Even when managers have poor spells, you can usually identify what it is they’re trying to do, at least. With Vieira, on the ball, I genuinely have no idea what he was trying to achieve.

And being a nice bloke doesn't usually correlate with being a good football manager when times aren't great.

Schlupp, Ayew and a few others probably thought he was great for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure he'll ever be a manager of any significance.

Exactly this. I think the players liked him and respected him, but they have gone from having a clear structure to play in to confusion.

I am not sure why, but it is like we were a word that was correctly spelt but ever since then we have the same letters but that now get placed in increasingly random order and rarely form an intelligble word
