Anyhoo - who are being inconvenienced by Saturday train strikes exactly?

They don't affect the smooth running of the slave economy. What's wrong with a Monday strike where the Tories might take notice.

A bit unfair we're playing Leeds (a) and Wolves (a) both Tuesday 25th April, according to the Palace app!

Though I guess as Leeds is 17.30 and Wolves is 19.30, it'll be a quick dash down the M1.

I am guessing the PL are burying their heads in the sand with regards to the impact of the Coronation (on the weekend of the Spurs away game)....especially with regard to fixtures in London

Well, the TV companies clearly think all of these matches are going to be 6 pointers.

Yes...but how does that effect the economy and bring the government / managers to the negotiating table.

It just affects people trying to enjoy their leíste time. Ministers and business people don't care about them.

Leisure activities aren't free so it directly affects the economy. It also creates unrest because after being work a potentially key option of being able to go out somewhere and do something is taken away.

Today we supposedly find out what is happening with the Spurs away game over the Coronation weekend.

Recent tv changes announcements have been on time (usually at 4pm or 5pm?) so we shall see!

Id imagine the sensible thing would be to run the full program across the Sunday/Monday night keeping the Saturday clear. It would be pretty crap for it to be postponed to midweek

Queen Elizabeth coronation lasted 3 hours and started 1115am. No start time announced yet for Charles but it may be shorter and only be 2 hours long. If so, may be over by early afternoon, enabling non London matches to ko 3pm or 4pm. Though, I agree that most likely scenario is no fixtures that day.

The Monday of Coronation weekend is a Bank Holiday, so has scope for afternoon fixtures

Coronation weekend is also the final weekend of EFL Championship, League 1 and League 2 fixtures, so not playing big football matches at all across that weekend is not an option, with the added complication that the final round of fixtures in any division need to kick off at the same time, so whole divisions would have to fit in with regional differences (eg in London - QPR, Millwall)

There are Champions League fixtures and what not to potentially deal with as well the Midweek after the Coronation. At best the fixtures could be moved to Sunday/Monday with a proviso to put fixtures on the Monday where the police forces/train stations etc. would be most directly affected.

Liverpool/Man. City/Newcastle/Forest/Wolves on the Sunday
Brighton/Bournemouth/Fulham/Spurs/West Ham games on the Monday

The potential issue with that is that Bournemouth are playing Chelsea who may be involved in said Champions League fixtures on the following Tuesday/Wednesday
