Suggested Team and Formation For: Arsenal (H) 04/04/22

I guess at what point do we think about the squad and potential for injuries and limiting the risk in this and the Leicester game. For me, the hardest players to replace would be Mitchell, Kouyate, Guehi and Wilf, particularly at Wembley on a big pitch where pace will be needed.

We have attacking options to change it around, but less so defensively. Might we see a formation that doesn't involve Gallagher to see what we might go with vs Chelsea?

If Olise and Zaha are doubts, then we may need a reshuffle! Even if they can get fit, it’s probably worth resting them so we can preserve them for Wembley!

I’d go with this too, even if Wilf and Olise have a chance of being fit. No point taking any risks. I’d happily play a reserve team against Arsenal and Leicester to keep our first choice players free of injury.

Nuts. That's the thing with a Cup run, suddenly everything revolves around our chances of beating Chelsea and Liverpool/ManCity at Wembley - the three best teams in the country, and all else is less important.

Hows about waiting to hear what our "knocks" actually are ? Could that be a plan ?
We are not "over the line" and certainly don't need a Pardew style fade-away.

Of course you wait to see what the injuries are but based on what we have heard about Wilf, it is definitely a hamstring, however minor it is, you don’t risk him on Monday night with a semi final 2 and a bit weeks away. We have depth and Edouard can come in to replace him. Wilf didn’t play at the Emirates, Edouard played on the left and it was one of our best performances of the season.

We are 12 points clear of the drop zone, we will still have 7 league games left after the semi final. Why on earth would we risk players with slight injuries when we have decent back up options??

If Wilf/Olise are unavailable then the front three of Ayew, Mateta, Edouard picks itself as does the back 4. If Macarthur is fit to play 60 minutes I would start him with Kouyate and Eze making up the three.

Gallagher won't play at Wembley so we should try to pick the three that will start that game and begin with CG on the bench

I think Gallagher will too. We aren't leaving our best player of the season out of two games just because he can't play in the one that follows. If we are without two of our main attacking threats in Wilf and Olise surely we don't leave out another key attacking player.

I agree, we still have to try and win games out of the cup, Gallaghers a massive part of that.

We’ve shown that we can play well without Gallagher when we played them in the league at home, we were unlucky not to come away from that game without a point.
