The morning after pill is rather disappointingly called 'Pille Danach'.

I guess "Pille nach ein guter Fick" would be a bit too descriptive

Interestingly, I learned this first part many years ago when my daughters were at primary school - before the www came online - when we were looking onto different languages and, especially, the Germanic style of compounding nouns to form words. The longest German word has 79 characters:

Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswe rkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft

It's the name of a company which, IIRC, had its name emblazoned on a wall which turned a corner. Again, IIRC, the longest word I came across was a Swedish word with 119 characters. My daughter took them to school, written out over several pages of 11 inch sprocketted mainframe computer paper to unravel in the classroom so that the kids could see the relative sizes.

Fresh off the press today though, while the above research took several hours of research to arrive at, Babbel informs me after just a few keystrokes that the longest word in the world has 195 Sanskrit characters which, when translated into a Roman system, has 428 characters.

Ha, what timing! I just wrote that as a question for my next quiz, then came on here to see your post.

The other two questions in that round are:

a) Which of these were first shown on UK TV: I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here or Strictly Come Dancing?
b) Which of these were first shown on UK TV: University Challenge or Dr Who?

Good questions. I'm not going to google and guess Strictly and Dr Who.

I think sci-fi bods get cross if you don't spell the last programme "Doctor Who".

Anyway, I'm a Celeb and not sure for me Clive. Who is the obvious answer (November 1963, just after Kennedy's assassination) so I'm going for Challenge.

I'm proud to say I've never watched I'm a Celeb.

I avoided Strictly for years, but then the kids wanted to watch it.

Well done. This is almost as impressive as saying that you don't own a television or are a vegan or whatever.

The answers are:

a) I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here was shown earlier than Strictly Come Dancing (2002 vs 2004)
b) University Challenge was shown earlier than *Doctor* Who (1962 vs 1963)

On a visit to Berlin and Checkpoint Charlie a few years ago I was told the only original part is the frame that holds the sign saying Checkpoint Charlie on the roof of the hut.

I learnt today that there is a coconut breaking rat on the Solomon islands, apparently one of the few animals able to break a coconut.

In a similar vein, as most people know COBRA meetings are named after Cabinet Office Briefing Room A. There is also a Cabinet Office Briefing Room B (and possibly more) in the same part of the Cabinet Office.
