Yeah, blaming problems on successive governments seems to be the main get out nowadays.

As utterly frustrating as it is I have to hand it to the politicians who shamelessly peddle this crap as it continues to work and win people over.

Maybe in 10 to 15 years time people will finally start to see through this…

Is it just me that doubts this? The last few years have taught me that Britain, if not most countries, will succumb to whatever the controllers of the media wish them to think.

I'm not sure they've ever previously managed (successfully) to blame everything on the previous regime when they were the previous regime in the way that Johnson has. People in the 'red wall' voted for 'change' even though they were voting for the party that had been in power for a decade. Johnson's conference speech was more of the same. For all his many faults, it's a hell of a trick to pull off.

I suspect that telling people that black is actually white, and a chunk of people believing it, says more about the faults within that chunk of the population than the con man saying it. You have to be willfully stupid not to see you are being lied to

First the Brexit con from Johnson, and now the zero carbon con just announced:

"The Spectator's deputy political editor, Katy Balls, says the chancellor's reluctance to predict an overall cost of achieving the environmental goal casts doubt on how serious the government is about reaching net zero. She claims that ministers' strategy appears to rely on taking "a few steps now and then [hoping] for the best".

This is a typical Johnson approach to everything. Do a bit of grandstanding, tell the gullible he is going to spaff a lot of money, but whatever you do, don't give 'em a detailed viable plan. It only has to work until 2024.

In a brief interview on the news at the conference , he even said people voted for change at the last election. It went completely unchallenged by the interviewer. You have to hand it to him.
