Jesus, the state of the White Hart Lane pitch was unbelievable. There looks like some unusual pitch markings on the near side; had there been a rugby match played there or something? It could have been speedway judging by the complete lack of grass on three quarters of the pitch.

Later on in the season the FA Cup Semi-Final between Chelsea and Watford was played at White Hart Lane. No hint of grass in this picture:

One has to wonder how the modern day footballer would have coped with those conditions.

I recall the 68/69 promotion team being presented on the pitch a couple of years ago. I said then that players like Mark Lazarus were probably thinking they could play in their carpet slippers on our pitch.

Some grainy footage of our 4th round cup defeat at Spurs in 1987 starting around 34 mins in.
Remember we took quite a following that day but were well beaten in end.

I went to that game. 4-0 it finished but from what I remember it was a pretty unfair scoreline. Those highlights show the sitter that Andy Gray missed at 0-0 and we looked pretty comfortable until they scrambled home a goal and then Gary O'Reilly hammered in a great goal (shame it was in his own net).
We weren't with the Palace fans but in some posh seats, my Dad had got through some 'Spurs' friends. It wasn't nice, because although we kept very quiet during the match, it was obvious we were oppo fans and we had the condescending p*ss taken out of us, throughout by middle class Spurs toffs.
What could you say ? 4-0.
Anyway, forward 3 years and Pardew wins it for us, with the clubs in the same league, now. Sadly, I wasn't there but got a call from my Dad (on holiday abroad) almost immediately after the final whistle, with jubilant words to the affect of 'I hope those w*****s from 3 years ago, enjoyed the game !'

Gary O'Reilly's mullet was a sight to behold. Even out-mulleting Chris Waddle.

Bizarre highlights...after the early Gray miss we had about 3 minutes of meaningless mild midfield tussling, the ball trickling out for a throw in etc. No sign of the first two Spurs goals. Penalty decision against Finnegan looked harsh for the third goal.

Youth cup game was interesting

Obviously half a dozen names from both first teams there

Didn’t remember Peter Nick was youth coach

Paul Hart the Leeds manager

Leeds goal was clearly offside

Paul Walsh on his intro. From what I’ve been told about this team….

Well done on the research Paul
