Great stuff, nobody getting stabbed or robbed just smacked around the head by a hotdog

Watched the Tolkein movie last night. It was fine for Monday evening and has set up a Hobbit/LOTR extended versions binge quite nicely

Chef 2014

I'm seven years behind but nice story of a chef starting up a food truck that becomes a sensation.

John Favreau character has it all in this. Makes wonderful food. And married to Sofia Vegara, moves onto Scarlett Johansson and then remarries Sofia. What a guy

Bad Times At The El Royale(2018)
A bit overlong, but a cleverly constructed thriller with interconnecting stories set in a hotel.
7/10

The Comedians. Superb adaptation of Greene's novel. Burton, Taylor, Guiness, Ustinov. Surviving the chaos of Papa Doc's Haiti.

The Earth Dies Screaming (1964)
A British sci-fi pic with a horror twist. Thinly plotted but has some creepy moments and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome at 1 hour 5 minutes.
6.5/10

Another Year, 2010.... Switching channels pre bedtime on Friday night here in Melbourne. Just caught the start of this film and I sat there quite glued. Couldn't leave it. It potrays a couple close to retirement and features a year in their lives and their friends around them int he same age group. All of whom seem to have had sad outcomes in their lives.

I think it's the most British thing I've ever seen!! None of the sap and self effacing of Notting Hill and Love Actually..... Just stone cold very close to reality stuff.

Should be regarded up there with Withnail and I

Fantastic performance from the character "Mary" in the movie.... I reckon we all know a Mary.

Definitely not for everyone this movie, but those that get into it will really enjoy.

Edit, it a Mike Leigh film, which may mean something to some on here... Catch it on ABC catch up here in Australia for the locals reading this, who fancy a bit of UK nostalgia.
