Hayden was delighted with the takeover. But other fans pointed out he was shite and would be flogged on. Toon idiots suddeny going from "Spend money Ashley" to "No no Hayden gives it everything, he's one of ours".

But this is the reality that Newcastle fans will face. They want the old Newcastle they had under Kevin Keegan with local talent coming through but what they are likely to get is something similar to Man City without a local accent between them and the players living in London or Manchester with a local pad for training days(unless they move the training facilities to London)

Hopefully they will develop the accent. Jan Molby did. Might even need a voice coach. What's Jimmy Nail doing these days?

I would love it if they appointed Lampard.

Another failing cockney to appease the northern grunts.

It's good to be Palace!
Till they pillage Eze and any other young talents we have coming through because we cant match their wages

Apparently the Premier League received assurances that this custom would not be employed. Or not in public, at least.

Yep, sadly it's bound to happen. That's why we need to have our academy become a talent factory because we can't compete with the cash floating around now.

using Eze as an example might not be fair; I dont understand why players would want to sign for a club such as Newcastle in the next season or two. OK there's the potential for big wages but i would hope that once wages are over 50K p.w. that the conditions are important too. Playing at a team like Palace amongst like minded players must be worth something. Different situation once title, trophies and the Champions league are guarantees as at Manchester City but until then the only draw is the money. I wouldn't want such obvious mercenaries at Palace. Perhaps I'm just over #modernfootball.

Think the last player to be "pillaged" went for 40 mil. Daylight robbery.

Who assesses this? The same people who think the PiF is not controlled by the saudi state?

Correct, although there will be 19 other PL clubs assessing this plus UEFA if they get into europe.

I get that uefa will get involved if they qualify for Europe but do the individual PL clubs have a say on FFP- thought it was the Premier League (who I get are made up by the cubs but the same is true on any PL decision, including approving the PIF deal)?

I do wonder if the current top teams may work to prevent Newcastle from breaking into the top 4.

This slightly misses the point about how City stretched FFP beyond the limits well after the takeover. Plenty of potential loopholes to be explored and they have a comparatively free run for a few years given that Ashley actually turned a profit

Think you need to expand that to include RM, Bayern and PSG (and Barcelona I guess)

At some point Newcastle in the fairly near future will be fishing in the same market as those clubs and looking to deprive them of revenue. From one point of view it is at least as critical for them as it shoves even more money into the PL and potentially shifts the balance of power further away from continental giants.
