Romantic Returns

Currently on TV:

MOTD Top 10: Romantic Returns
BBC1
Gary Lineker and his panel of experts present a countdown of the top 10 times a Premier League player has made an emotional return to their former club

What about Crystal Palace 'romantic returns' (not just Premier League)?

Off the top of my head, I can only think of:

Johnny Byrne (via West Ham)
Clinton Morrison (via Birmingham City)
Dougie Freedman (via Wolves & Nottingham Forest)

I don't remember Budgies return being that romantic. He was sadly well passed his best and was shipped of ti Fulham after a year. Budgie liked the ale a bit , and died to young.

Long time ago Ronnie Rooke was mainly a reserve 1930s had a good career with Fulham and Arsenal. Good first season as Palace player-manager was first to be sent off at Millwall. Terrible start of next season after spending alot of money on players. Was soon sacked but was still leading scorer with 5 goals in 6 games. that was season 1950-51.

If you include managers, I'd have thought we have more returnees than your average club - a few more to the list (not all successful on return, I should add):

Peter Nicholas (as a player and then as joint head coach)
Steve Coppell
Terry Venables
Alan Smith
Peter Taylor

Understood and of course you're quite right. I misread the subject of the thread. More haste, less speed. And I'm sorry to read about the demise of the quadrupedic version....
