Yes. He defies gravity. Every half witted thing he says seems to polish his aura to the fan club.

This is a time to remember the famous line in response to the question "What is the greatest challenge for a statesman".

"Event, dear boy. Events."

And events do happen, as the unassailable Margaret Thatcher found out. It was also an 'event' that allowed Blair to become Labour leader and (temporarily) eliminate the Tories as a political force.

What intrigues me is why does BJ want to be PM? He stood for the leadership and won, he won a huge majority, he 'got Brexit done.'

Does he want the mental and physical work of another 5 or 10 years? Or would he prefer to say that he has secured his place in history and so he will stand aside - and let someone else pick up the pieces in the same way that Blair eventually stood aside for Brown.

Does he really have the drive, moral vision, determination to lead a party for year to come - or will he take it easy and make his multi-millions? At this stage I wouldn't rule the latter out.

I'd be amazed if Sunak challenged. Though he might we'll pick up the pieces and become leader and PM after someone else challenges.

The public might be idiots, but they are also fickle. There's no sign of it happening yet, but once the public get fed up with him, I think it will be sudden and total - more so than with most politicians precisely because of Johnson's nature.

And the Tories are pretty ruthless when it comes to unpopular leaders. They won't hang around too long after it becomes apparent Johnson is an electoral liability.

But there is also a vacuum for the next charismatic leader in Tory party. There is no young and up coming etc.

Which will only make Kier stronger (well one hopes so anyway)

By most lights, Sunak has had a good war (so to speak). And I think Javid could do a good turn at mimicking gravitas. At this time they would seem the obvious front runners to me - but of course it looks like it'll be a while before there'll be a leadership election, so anything could happen.

What he got done was winning an election by a con trick.

He knew when he promoted the "Get Brexit Done" campaign, that he had no intention of following the NI protocol he agreed with the EU. Both Ian Paisley Jnr. and Cummings have said so this week. He deliberately let the agreement be delayed right up until the last moment to prevent adequate parliamentary scrutiny of the deal that he proclaimed as "fantastic". His priority, like in the referendum was too fool enough people to get their vote, not a good FTA for Britain.

He knew full well the chaos that his flawed agreement would cause especially regarding new border checks and red tape on goods affecting NI, which again he denied earlier was going to be a problem. The man is a total spiv, and he is running our country.

For all their faults the Tories in the past had a sense of shame and of honour, even if often just for show, but that is all gone, it is now just self interest, lies and corruption.

Indeed, told a pack of lies to win the election. Signed a brexit deal he had no intention of honouring. Kicked all the party members with any backbone out. Utter cwnt. And yet they all grovel to him.
