I enjoyed The Cockfields. Very easy watching, but also very true of how elderly parents behave with their harmless but often incredibly annoying and bizarre quirks.

Ken Burns doco Muhammed Ali. Four part programme on Ali. From childhood on ward. A lot of old footage. Funnily enough the Henry Cooper fight is mentioned and how Clay, as he then was got knocked down but came out to finish the fight. No mention of Angelo Dundee cutting the glove to give him time to recover. However a lot of mention of Sonny Liston smearing a gel on his gloves to make Ali's eyes water to slow him down. None the less a really good watch. Part two on Sunday.

Funny how different we see things, I’ve tried to get into that a couple of times because it’s got decent cast, but I think it’s dreadful, painfully unfunny in fact

Queen of Speed - Sky doc on rally star Michelle Mouton. Fascinating about her and also brilliant footage of the beasts of rally cars of the era, especially the Audi Quattro. Remember going to the forest stages of the RAC Rally to see the awesome Peugeot 205 t16 in my own 205 GTi 1.9 - still my favourite ever car I’ve owned.

I should add that the in car footage flying at full racing speed through spectators inches from the cars and often in front of them on the road to take head on pictures is terrifying. As is the shot from Portugal of them extracting two spectator fingers from a car that had been ripped off as he/she tried to touch it as it went past. Very different times.

Cowboy Bebop - Netflix

Live-action retelling of a beloved anime that has hits and misses. A solid cast mixed with iffy writing mixed with sweet action fight scenes mixed with questionable decisions on how to adapt the original story. The biggest non-spoiler change from the original is the large amount of screen time devoted to our main hero's, Spike Spiegel, archnemesis (Vicious) and his lost love (Julia). One thing they nail, however, is the original series' Old West/Noir/Jazzy feel. They take the original 26 thirty-minute episodes and mash it up into 10 one hour episodes. Some parts are cut, some are expanded, some are altered (including the ending which is a main talking point among the "enthusiasts".)

Four episodes into Wheel of Time

It's not nearly as bad as some make out. Maybe because I had low expectations, but i'm actually enjoying it

Colony. Sawyer from Lost and Lori from The Walking Dead are a couple with kids in LA, its just that LA has been sealed off from the world with giant walls and is controlled by a fascist government. Sawyer and Lori find themselves working on opposite sides with a spot of mystery about what's going on in the outside world (aliens probably).

Plot armor for the character is a bit silly but other than that the pace of the story and the mysterious element means I'm enjoying it.

You say that, but the Governor of Florida, proto Trump de Santos is seeking funding for a state funded militia under his control….just a thought.

Bad Sport - Netflix

Six episode series dealing with some notorious examples of greed infecting sports thru extortion, conspiracy and not knowing when to say enough is enough. Depending on your part of the world some of these stories are more well known than others. The best part of the series is the interviews with many of the people that were directly involved in the scandals.
  1. The Arizona State point shaving scandal
  2. Randy Lanier - Drug Smuggling Indy car driver
  3. Calciopoli
  4. 2002 Olympic Ice Skating Scandal
  5. Equestrian Hitman
  6. Hansie Cronje

Gone for a lot of escapism and humour this weekend. The first two new episodes of Sunny, the finale of the 11th series of Curb Your Enthusiasm and South Park: Post Covid. All the same theme and each tackled in their own hilarious funny way.

Enjoying Ridley Road this weekend, Watched the first two episodes and was engrossed enough, loved the historic references and the feel of the show. Somehow or other I've totally missed that part of history, have no recollection at all, have never heard of Colin Jordan... Yet I knew all about the battle of Cable Street, etc, so a bit of a wake-up for me.

How much better Britain could have been eh? (That's a joke BTW)

Where did Enoch Powell stand in amongst all of this?
