If it turns out he is a big success at Forest then blame our recruitment team and those in charge for not getting him.

We are only here to discuss our opinions which are often based on not a lot other than a hunch (personally I always try to own it as that because I don't watch anywhere near enough football to have strong opinions about non-Palace players).

It's up to Dougie, Parish and recruitment team to get the right players in. I bet a lot of us who weren't sure about Hudson-Odoi would have gladly taken him if we'd known the alternative was for the club to fail to sign another forward at all.

It looks like we missed out but then again Townsend had a great start for Everton but it only lasted a couple of months. Let's see his level of performance and fitness in January.

His ability was never in question for me despite as you say others saying that since his injury he was a broken flush.

What was in question for me was whether he had the drive to actually perform which is something that we do not know.

Ultimately, his name is not exactly unknown and Dougie and the scouting team would have known his availability and would have known what he could have brought and what potentially could have gone wrong.

He could go the way of Johnson at Forest and be a great success being sold for huge double digit figures. He could go the way of Lingard at Forest and be a complete flop, lose any chance of a new deal and then fail to get signed by anyone else.

Saying that you were right and everyone should have listened to you after 70 minutes against Burnley at home is a dangerous game to play. Hopefully it lasts for you but even if it does I am going to rely on the opinion of those in our transfer department more than anyone on this or any other forum. Including myself.

To say we should have signed or we should not have signed x, y, z player is a mugs game. We can all have opinions and we can all express those opinions but it isn't our money, we don't have the full data and we don't have the full story on any player.

Kinda like Harvey Barnes, Ward-Prowse, Max Aarons, any relegated player.

A number of people said these players weren't good enough for us and we shouldnt buy them.

Fair enough we would likely be priced out of a number of them, but to say they wouldnt improve us was mental.

CHO would have been ideal for us, but I imagine it was his wages that were the main sticking point in any pursuit we might have had.

If the guy is getting the reported £120k p/w, that would have been a huge risk for us, no matter how good he was at Chelsea. There's no guarantee he'll pull up trees for Forest.

After watching Sangare last night I'm glad we didn't go in for him,a few on here seemed to really rate him,I've never been convinced by him to slow on the turn and imo to slow for PL football generally, could be wrong but he's no way near a Doucoure..

There’s no way anyone said that we’re too good for Harvey Barnes.

Based on an average performance against Burnley?? yes, scored a great goal. Rest of the game i thought he was poor, as was Elanga by the way, which was another we should have signed

Very early days. He might turn out great for them, he might not. I'm glad we didn't gamble on him. We've dodged a number of bullets over the years and certainly been proven right more than wrong i'd say

If he turn out to be good then blame Dougid and Parish

I was one who would have liked to have taken a gamble on him, especially FFP wise.

He was such a great talent and may get it back but agree 70 minutes against Burnley is far too easy to tell.

He is however still on 120k a week and like the Zaha situation, I would prefer to spend those wages on Eze if we can.

But he was the best talent in the Chelsea academy before Covid, and that takes some doing.

My previous post back this up. A gamble but worth taking attitude. On his Chelsea wages of 180k I would have said no, and I am sure he'd have preferred Palace over Forest

I would have gone for him personally if I was Parish, but the Lingard cost Forest £5m in wages last year, but was on a one year contract.

I doubt he'd get much more than 60k a week on a free, and only Moyes wants him

See we are being linked to Archie Gray at Leeds by Nixon..only 17,looked comfortable in the Championship, maybe we're looking at Doucoure replacements for next summer ,could see some serious Suiters for CD next summer.
