Errr..

Yeah, obviously.

I meant who is he recommending him to? Steve Parish? Mark Bright? Mike Ashley? A TV audience?

Don't worry, someone else has already answered me.

Frank Lampard makes absolutely no sense at all. Got no understanding of, or admiration for Palace and what we’re all about. Does not fit the club one bit.

I’d be shocked if us or any Prem club go back in for him at the moment. He’s proven he’s not capable yet by having the quality he had at his disposal at virtually mid table. Tuchel’s Chelsea have highlighted his shortcomings. At a club like Palace those failings could be fatal.

He needs to drop down a level and learn his craft.
Agreed, he had a degree of comparative 'success' with Derby and was suddenly thrust into a high profile position on the back of it (with the addition of being a successful ex-player there).

It's interesting though, there are other examples of managers being given PL jobs on the back of very little and failing, yet it doesn't stop the clamour for the likes of Ismael and Cooper, with no real idea of whether they are ready to or capable of stepping up a level.

He's not Palace. Never could be.

That lot down the m23 would lap him up though. They'd happily change their name to 'Frank Lampard's Brighton and Hove albion'. Right up their plastic street.

We need to up the profile and make it so that there is no other club to support if you are from the area. We can do this by bringing through a lot more south London talent at the club. There’s never been a better time to do this. South London is definitely on the rise in so many ways. I’ve mentioned on here before but we should be putting on events at Selhurst like boxing(Joshua Batisu has expressed his desire to fight at SP as he is a fan) and showcasing other South London talent like music events by tying it in with CPFC. Make the club intrinsic with South London life. We’ve seen what happens when we get to an FA cup final. The whole of South London turns red and blue. If we were to always have a hand in big things going on around a South London it would raise our profile enormously.

Agree 100% Hulkster, think last 5 years there has been better changed from old mould.

Signing a massive profile manager also can help. Gerrard or a Mourinho say if he leaves Spuds.

I would be happy with Eddie Howe . If he starts to get us playing a little more offensive and keeps us up then then will be progress . However i still feel RH will be here for another season and it will be a missed opportunity for us .

I would be quite happy to keep Roy on for another season.

But if the hierarchy think Howe, or indeed anyone else that we are able to get this summer, is the right fit to take us forward then it would make complete sense to do it now.

If they don't think the right person isn't available this summer then Roy would certainly still appear to be safe hands to take us through another season. Football moves quickly and they won't stay available for long.

My slight worry about changing is that trying to introduce a new manager with a different style, at the same time as introducing (presumably) a significant number of new players does come with real risks.

If Roy is here and new players/ a change in style isn't working, we can always revert to his tried and tested (albeit defence minded approach) to scratch out a few results and regroup.

We have done it a couple of times this season (post the Liverpool-Villa thrashings and more recently the Leeds and Burnley defeats).

I think Roy has tried to change things at times this season. We certainly started to season getting more bodies forward, and we have introduced Mitchell, Eze and Jairo to regular PL football. When that threw up some problems, it is reassuring that we have something a bit safer to revert to. Experienced players who know how to play in a certain way that manager likes.

By my reckoning we already have 2 players we need to integrate in Mateta and Ferguson. Hopefully Mateta at least will get some of that in the final 9 games. But if you add in another 4 (minimum) and possibly as many as 7 or 8 new players then it is A LOT of change.

Still can't get my head around how we afford 'fixing the players' to an extent that allows much of a change to the style. Right now the squad has very limited options and TBH with injuries has even less. If money is as tight as it sounds and contracts expiring then I can see us scrambling and padding the squad out with players we wouldn't look at normally. A lot of the names we are being linked to player wise seem to be in the 'never heard of them' category and if they are at a bigger club they tend to be unwanted squad members or at clubs in second tier clubs. That could work out well but it's by definition a risk reliant on spotting something everyone else has missed.

So whoever is manager will have to be able to sort that out and work with what is unlikely to be a balanced, PL quality squad for at least the first half of the season. Either that or a fall guy.

It would make sense.

Premier league clubs had to return £330m in TV rights, that's £16.5m (or 1 Eze) we are down right there.

Hopefully it's twist and i can shout welcome Eddie.

Portsmouth have done well to get the Cowley brothers, I think they are talented and will do very well at Portsmouth.. Local lads to Palace, maybe in the future might be worth considering.

You mention music events. It’s a shame that South London’s most famous musical exports for kids these days (Stormzy, Dave, Krept and Konan etc) all support the fvcking wankers. Having them promoting palace would be helpful.

They’re all millennials who grew up with us in the championship though, suppose it’s the new generation we really need to win over, now we’re in our ‘golden age.’

Certainly did well at Lincoln. Not sure what happened at Hudds. Thought they did ok - kept them up. Not sure why they get binned off. Long way to go before they can be considered PL material though i fancy.

I’m sure that they would be proud to do a gig at Selhurst though regardless. But you’re on the exact same page as me in regards to the type of thing that the club needs to be doing. South London is ruling the rap game with Stormzy and the like. It’s time to harness that South London vibe and push the club forward with that and everything else that is taking off from the local area.

Huddersfield are certainly no better this year with the man who replaced them.

I do worry what Howe managing us with Cahill still playing regularly will look like.

If he arrives we will need a younger centre back in there.
