Coronation weekend is also the final weekend of EFL Championship, League 1 and League 2 fixtures, so not playing big football matches at all across that weekend is not an option, with the added complication that the final round of fixtures in any division need to kick off at the same time, so whole divisions would have to fit in with regional differences (eg in London - QPR, Millwall)
Just postpone the Coronation and have it in the cricket season. Job done.

The Football League have already confirmed the dates for that weekend matches.

League One is on the Sunday at midday. League Two is on the Bank Holiday at 12:30 with The Championship following at 3pm.

It does mean that two televised Premier League games could happen on the Monday.

Good to know, thanks.

I didn't notice, but it feels like they always do when it gets to this stage of the season

Handily for them, they say "N.B. These dates are subject to change"

Strange they would have missed it though when there is no premier league football happening for the moment...

Maybe they'll just skip a few to the April 7th announcement
